Auch dieses Jahr sind Bremer Künstler:innen eingeladen, sich für einen dreimonatigen Aufenthalt (Mitte August bis Mitte November) in Helsinki im Rahmen des Helsinki International Artist Programme (HIAP) zu bewerben.

Die Helsinki Artist Residency bietet Bremer Künstler:innen eine Plattform, um sich frei auszuprobieren und sich zu vernetzen. Neben der finanziellen Unterstützung fördert das Residenzprogramm neue Ansätze und den Austausch für die Produktion künstlerischer Arbeiten. Unsere internationale Partnerinstitution HIAP bietet ideale Voraussetzungen für die Vernetzung vor Ort als auch zwischen den internationalen Gästen der Organisation. HIAP gewährt Zeit und Raum für ein offenes Forschen und Experimentieren, ohne die Bedingung ein Projekt fertigstellen zu müssen. Die Institution vor Ort unterstützt die Künstler:innen Kontakte zu lokalen Kunstschaffenden und Organisationen herzustellen. Zudem bietet HIAP den Künstler:innen zum Abschluss ihrer Residenz die Chance, ihre Projektideen und Arbeiten im Rahmen eines Open Studios-Events vorzustellen.
 
Wer kann sich bewerben?
Bewerben können sich professionell arbeitende Künstler:innen mit (erstem) Wohnsitz in Bremen, die ihr Studium an einer Kunsthochschule abgeschlossen haben bzw. nachweislich professionell als Künstler:in arbeiten sowie über Englischkenntnisse verfügen. Es gibt keine Altersbeschränkung. Künstler:innen dürfen ihre Kinder mitbringen, es wird jedoch keine Kinderbetreuung angeboten.
 
Was bietet die Residency?
Die Residency umfasst die Übernahme der Reisekosten, die Unterbringung in einem der Wohnateliers von HIAP in Helsinki im genannten Zeitraum, ein monatliches Barstipendium von 1.500 €, einen Reisekostenzuschuss in Höhe von 700 € sowie ein einmaliges Produktionsbudget von 500 €. Darüber hinaus unterstützt HIAP vor Ort mit der Aufnahme in ein Netzwerk und der kuratorischen Betreuung durch das Team von HIAP.
 
Wie bewirbt man sich?
Die Bewerbungsunterlagen umfassen:
– vollständig ausgefülltes Bewerbungsformular inkl. Motivationsschreiben (max. 3000 Zeichen inkl. Leerzeichen) auf Englisch
– Portfolio (max. 15 Seiten und 10 MB) mit deutschen und englischen
Werkangaben
– Lebenslauf mit Ausstellungstätigkeit in Deutsch und Englisch (je 1 Seite)

Once again this year, artists from Bremen are invited to apply for a three-month residency (imd-August to mid-November) in Helsinki as part of the Helsinki International Artist Programme (HIAP).

The Helsinki Artist Residency provides a platform for Bremen artists to freely explore and network.  In addition to financial support, the residency program encourages new approaches and exchange for the production of artistic works. Our international partner institution HIAP offers ideal conditions for networking locally as well as between the organization’s international guests. HIAP grants time and space for open research and experimentation without the condition of having to complete a project. The local institution supports the artists in establishing contacts with local artists and organizations. In addition, HIAP offers artists the chance to present their project ideas and work at an Open Studios event at the end of their residency.

Who can apply?
Applications are open to professional artists with (their primary) residence in Bremen, who have completed their studies at an art academy or have a proven track record of working professionally as an artist, and who have a working knowledge of English.  There is no age limit. Artists may bring their children, but no childcare is provided.

What does the residency offer?
The residency includes travel expenses, accommodation in one of HIAP’s residential studios in Helsinki during the specified period, a monthly cash stipend of € 1,500, a travel allowancein the amount of € 700, and a one-time production budget of € 500. In addition, HIAP provides on-site support through inclusion in a network and curatorial support from the HIAP team.

– fully completed application form  incl. letter of motivation (max. 3000 characters incl. spaces) in English
– Portfolio (max. 15 pages and 10 MB) with German and English work details
– CV with exhibition activities in German and English (1 page each)
