COAPPARATION 3, Open Call Atelierstipendien im Arbeitszimmer thealit Frauen.Kultur.Labor.

Deadline: 15. September 2021

COAPPARATION 3, Open Call Studio Grants at Arbeitszimmer thealit, Frauen.Kultur.Labor.

We offer – as a conclusion of the series COAPPARATION, in its 3rd part again four one-month studio residencies in thealit’s Arbeitszimmer (working and exhibition space) to four different female artists / groups. The former store space, located on St.-Jürgen-Straße in Bremen, has already proven to be well suited for various forms of working practices and presentations. It has two rooms: one at the front with a large window facing the street, looking out on a broad sidewalk, and one room in the back with a small balcony. It has good sanitation facilities, although there is no shower. The front store space can be seen in the photo by the group leer&gut, (Esther Adam, Katharina M. Greeven) from their window displays during their studio residency. The artists will be invited to work with or react to the theme of COAPPARATION*, in the broadest sense.

To publicize the works—which is not obligatory—the large window of the workroom (the shop space) can be used, as can the thealit website and other digital publication channels. It would also be possible to take over the thealit Instagram account. Even presentations (lecture, exhibition, performance) and talks in the Arbeitszimmer space may be realized, but only if in compliance with the respective Covid-19 protection measures and regulations and always only with a small number of participants due to the small size of the rooms. The thealit curators (Claudia Reiche / Andrea Sick) will be available to converse with the artists and engage in reflection together, especially during the studio residency.

The following time slots are offered: November 2021 December 2021 January 2022 February 2022 The studio grant includes the use of the rooms (empty with a small coffee corner, table and chair), a material cost allowance of 400 euros, if possible the necessary technical equipment (projector, toolbox, audio boxes, audio recording device). If needed, a travel and transportation allowance of up to 200 euros is available (to be submitted with receipts and tickets), a small allowance for living expenses of 400 euro too. The grant also includes support for publication of the work. (Total max. 1000 euro)

Please submit applications with a cover letter and CV (+ portfolio or text samples), along with your preferred date, an alternative one, and any questions to: Lola Castro / thealit castro(at)thealit.de 0421-701632 Deadline: September 15, 2021

*COAPPARATION? Cooperation is a process or behavior that can be regarded as essential for many things, ranging from culture and cultural politics to evolution, and vice-versa. Like an engine, it enables the stop and go of functional relationships, whose complex rhythms and intervals can in turn appear instrumental. In an apparition—another word for manifestation—perhaps? In that case COAPPARATION would be a little bit of COAPPARITION, because each instance of cooperation or each instance of its rejection comes down to common understanding, agreement, inquiry, hesitation, and action. In early summer 2022, a joint event will take place with all participants from the parts COAPPARATION 1,2,3.
